DE= 5.6 x dCP + 9.4 x dEE + 4.2 x NDFapd + 4.2 x dNFC
Nonfibrous carbohydrates (NFC) were estimated according to the equations described by NRC (2001): NFC (% of DM) = 100-(CP+ether extract [EE]+NDF+ash) and the observed total digestible nutrient (TDN) were estimated according to the following equation: TDN = dCP+(2.25* dEE)+dNDF+dNFC; where dCP = digestible CP, dEE = digestible EE, dNDF = digestible NDF, and dNFC
= digestible NFC.
Where: DCP = digestible crude protein; DEE = digestible ether extract; NDFcpD = neutral detergent fiber (corrected for ash and protein) and DNFC
= digestible non-fibrous carbohydrates.
The amount of total digestible nutrients (TDN) was obtained from the summative equation: TDN = DCP + 2.25 x DEE + DNDFcp + DNFC
(NRC, 2001), in which: DCP = digestible crude protein; DEE = digestible ether extract; DNDFcp = digestible neutral detergent fiber (corrected for ash and protein); DNFC
= digestible non-fiber carbohydrate.
DE (Mcal [kg.sup.-1] DM) = 5.6 x DCP + 9.4 x DEE + + 4.2 x DNDF + 4.2 x DNFC
