We included six environmental variables (soil water content, mean substrate size, ground surface temperature, diurnal temperature range, vegetation cover, and Pinus cover) as predictors.
Diurnal temperature range (DIF) can be described as the difference between day and night temperatures (DT and NT) (Erwin et al., 1989).
Thus, we could not fully control for the residual confounding from extreme minimum and maximum temperatures, so it is also possible that the association of TV with mortality reflects adverse effects of the more extreme maximum or minimum temperatures that a high diurnal temperature range, and hence TV, would imply.
Additionally, diurnal temperature range (DTR) and ATR are involved to take account into the temperature range.
The change in diurnal temperature range (DTR) may be attributed to increase in cloud cover.
Night cooling by way of rock storage was rejected due to the small diurnal temperature range, expense, space required and the need for a conventional back-up system.
Phyllochron also appeared to increase with increased daytime (light-phase) temperature and, on the basis of this observation, an increase in phyllochron apparently resulting from an increase in diurnal temperature range from 5 to 15[degrees]C could be explained by differences in mean daily high temperature (13.75 and 18.75[degrees]C) associated with the temperature range treatments.
For part of the new study, the scientists compared the diurnal temperature range (DTR)--the difference between the daytime maximum and nighttime minimum--at 660 selected weather stations in the continental United States.
Primary variables of precipitation (mm), mean temperature ([degrees]C), and diurnal temperature range ([degrees]C) were available and interpolated from extensive meteorologic station data by using angular distance-weighted averaging of anomaly fields.

Theoretically, the findings from this paper contribute further to the study of knowledge by providing sufficient evidence to support earlier studies that night-time ventilation is not effective in some warm-humid environments with narrow diurnal temperature range.
RESULTS: A 1[degrees]C increase in temperature was associated with a 17.7% [95% confidence interval (CI): 16.9, 18.6%] increase in malaria incidence after a 3-week lag, a 10% rise in relative humidity was associated with 40.7% (95% CI: -44.3, -36.9%) decrease in malaria after a 7-week lag, a 1[degrees]C increase in the diurnal temperature range was associated with a 24.1% (95% CI: -26.7, -21.4%) decrease in malaria after a 7-week lag, and a 10-hr increase in sunshine per week was associated with a 5.1% (95% CI: -8.4, -1.7%) decrease in malaria after a 2-week lag.
