She impacted patient care through her work with community-based health care organizations, national advisory boards (such as the Food and Drug Administration's Drug Abuse Advisory Committee), the National Institutes of Health at both Institutes for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and on the service side of government (the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration/Center for Substance Abuse Treatment).
