This will the first time that wild birds will be on display in the Mall, and the first time the EAWT have put on a display in a Newcastle shopping centre.
The EAWT is currently raising funds to build a new sanctuary for exotic animals in the North East whose owners are unable to care for them appropriately.
The Exotic Animal Welfare Trust (EAWT) is relatively new charity specialising in protecting and preventing cruelty to exotic animals and has been campaigning on their behalf since 1998.
Mrs Heathcote's husband, Peter, chairman of the EAWT, based in Tow Law, County Durham, said: "We think Darwin was simply abandoned when he developed mouth sores.
"Zoe did a brilliant job with these packs and certainly deserves to win the title," said EAWT Chief Executive Peter Heathcote.
"Although the tarantula, now called Incy, appears in good health, he is under close supervision by EAWT staff for the next few days to see how he settles into his new home.
