EBDA, meaning start in Arabic, is a tailor-made programme sponsored by Maersk Oil Qatar and aimed at university students in Qatar.
Launched in September 2013, the year-and-a-half long professional training programme, EBDA ("start" in Arabic), saw a talented group of young Emiratis take part in a four-phase programme with the aim of equipping them to become future leaders in cultural organisations.
EBDA, which means o[umlaut]start' in Arabic, will target college students (Qataris and expatriates) and use experience-based leadership techniques to develop students' skills along with constant coaching and reviews by specialists.
EBDA, which also means 'start' in Arabic, says on its website its mission is to "enable businessmen to contribute effectively in boosting the Egyptian economy by attracting and encouraging investment, human development, providing projects and developmental solutions along with the participation in decision making and economic legislation.
Organised by the Executive Office of Shaikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the EBDA programme conducted an open meeting for its participants with 'Knowledge Without Borders' (KWB) Project's general manager Rashid Al Kous, who spoke about his personal experience in leading the KWB work team, highlighting their most prominent achievements and successes.
LeaderShape, now in its ninth year in Qatar and co-ordinated by the Student Life team of HBKU, forms part of EBDA - an ongoing leadership development programme involving HBKU and Qatar University and sponsored by Maersk Oil Qatar, that focuses on building leadership skills in students through experience-based learning.
Organised by the executive office of Shaikha Bodour, EBDA will provide management and leadership development skills to young leaders through theoretical classroom training and on-the-job training, in addition to participating in cultural events.
