Elastomeric heat shielding materials (EHSMs) are a class of ablatives commonly used in those applications in which the material has to work as an insulation to protect structural parts against high temperatures and, at the same time, has to exhibit high elongation at break [1-3].
Due to their compatibility with a phenolic matrix, Kynol[R] libers were used as a reinforcement; the phenolic modified EHSMs were compared with an EPDM/Kynol[R] basel ine studied in a previous work [16].
As reported in literature [15, 29-31], this amount of fibers is a proper compromise between the mechanical and ablative properties of EPDM-based EHSMs. To increase the ablation resistance of the EPDM, nanosilica (R7200 grade), kindly supplied by Evonik, was used.
Cristal Hotel Abu Dhabi has been commended for being the first hotel in the emirate to implement the guidelines imposed by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's Environment Health and Safety Management System (EHSM), which applies to all hotels and hotel apartments in the emirate.
