All efforts undertaken by the EIAST and its engineers are aligned with the visionary plans of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, of making the UAE a satellite design and manufacturing hub for the region.
The delegation, headed by Yousuf Al Shaibani, director-general of EIAST, also included Eng Salem Al Marri, assistant director-general for scientific and technical affairs.

At EIAST, a team of 45 engineers and experts are currently establishing advanced facilities and high-tech laboratories for building the satellite.

EIAST focuses on four main scientific programmes: space, astronomy, energy and environment and water research.
The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science & Technology (EIAST) and United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop joint activities and initiatives to strengthen co-operation in the filed of applied research and industrial innovation in the UAE.
