ELULS Law School Liaison activities, under the direction of Joan Matthews, have continued this year with 100 percent participation of law schools in ELULS block-grant requests and the award of six special grants.

Nominees must be admitted to practice in Florida but do not have to be members of ELULS. Factors to be considered include the attorney's long-standing commitment to protecting Florida's natural resources; excellence as an attorney; mentorship of other attorneys within the field; and personal character, integrity, and good reputation within the profession.
He is past chair of ELULS and of The Florida Bar Journal Editorial Board, and current chair of the Animal Law Committee.
The ELULS provides a forum for discussion and keeps its members updated on Environmental and Land Use Law, which changes frequently and has seen significant change in the past few years.
Each recipient also will be expected to attend the annual update meeting of the ELULS and will be assigned a mentor from the section to aid in the pursuit of a career in environmental and/or land use law.
