The eighth round of the EMFF
includes PS673,000 for Fraserburgh-based Whitelink Seafoods, to support the expansion of its processing base and installation of blast freezing equipment and PS642,000 for Joseph Roberston (Aberdeen) to instal a retail packing line and robotic equipment.
Rural minister Mairi Gougeon said the EMFF
grants were vital to help the fishing and seafood sector flourish.
The compromise also sets out conditions for the use of EMFF
funds forengine renewal(Article 39), which should provide for safer engines that consume less energy and cause less pollution: the funds will suport (co-finance) the withdrawal, replacement and modernisation of boatsafor small-scale coastal fishing; for boats up to 12 metres provided that the newaengine has the same power or less than the old one; for vessels up to 18 metres provided that the new engine's power output inathe vessel group is at least 20% less than that of the engine it replaces; andafor vessels up to 24 metres provided that the new engine's power output inathe vessel group is at least 30% less than that of the engine it replaces (Article 13).
A new Aberdeenshire Council report said: "Following the EU Referendum there was uncertainty about EMFF
timescales, and the programme was initially limited to making final grant awards in March 2019.
However, the last element of this reform, which concerns the new European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF
