ERTICO in hopes for new business opportunities (see above).

A draft agreement on procedures for the introduction of e-Call was signed in August 2004 by the European Commission, the motor industry (through the European Automobile Manufacturers Association) and
ERTICO, a public/private working on the development of intelligent transport services in Europe.
On a global basis the market for such technology could reach $56 billion a year, "half for hardware, half for services," forecasts Jean-Francois Pripinel, chairman and CEO of
ERTICO, a European industry-government consortium studying and promoting in-car technology.

The European Commission signed the Memorandum with the car-makers' association ACEA and public-private transport partnership
