Endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) is the primary treatment selection for esophageal varices according to guideline and our experiences [12,13].
The EVLS can be considered as a transformation of current-potential curves capable of eliminating some selected current components, while conserving others by means of elimination functions [7, 18].
This is further confirmed by the pH dependence of peak [a.sub.1] in the CV (Figure 4) and prepeak [a'.sub.1] in the EVLS curves (Figures 6(a) and 6(c)).
The oxidation of the adsorbed ligand is the first step as indicated by the appearance of prepeak-peak at 0.25 V in the EVLS (inset Figure 7(c)).
