Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) is an asymmetric cryptographic system, which uses a variant of the discrete logarithm problem as applied to points in an elliptic curve group as the core of its security.
It has been found that the cost of the bilinear parings is approximately 20 times more than that of the scalar multiplication over elliptic curve group [34].
The relative computation cost of a pairing is approximately twenty times higher than that of the scalar multiplication over elliptic curve group (CAO; KOU, 2011; CHEN et al., 2007).
(ii) [T.sub.M]: the time to compute a point multiplication on the elliptic curve group;
(iii) [T.sub.A]: the time to compute a point addition on the elliptic curve group;
He and Chen [24] proposed another efficient certificateless designated verifier signature scheme based on elliptic curve group without bilinear pairing.
However, the computation cost of the pairing is much higher than that of the scalar multiplication over the elliptic curve group. Therefore, it is quite significant to design cryptosystem without pairing operation.
A complementary elliptic curve group, denoted by [bar.[E.sub.p] (a, b)], is a set of all pairs (x,y) [member of] [Z.sub.p] x [Z.sub.p] satisfying [y.sup.2] + [x.sup.3] + ax + b, together with an element denoted [infinity]; however, y is of the form y = u[square root of (v)], where u, v [member of] [Z.sub.p] and v is a fixed quadratic non-residue.
In both the original RSA and the RSA on the elliptic curve group, each plaintext element x [member of] [Z.sub.n] has the same bit length as modulus n.
The point addition "+" in the elliptic curve group G is defined as follows: Let P, Q [member of] G, [l.sub.1] be the line connecting P and Q ([l.sub.1] be the tangent line to E([F.sub.p]) if P = Q), and R be the third point of intersection of the line [l.sub.1] with E([F.sub.p]).
The bilinear pairing requires super-singular elliptic curve groups that have a spacious range of elements.
Certain important calculation problems are generally observed during the use of elliptic curve groups for designing secure encryption schemes [26].
