He embarked on a managerial career with the National Coal Board before taking on the job of running the Energy Action Grants Agency
with the aim of providing energy effi-ciency to homes which needed it most.
Eaga was founded in 1990 as the Energy Action Grants Agency
(EAGA) Partnership to administer the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme in the local area and was listed in 2007 but had to shed 700 jobs across the country due to Government cutbacks in the Warm Front grant.
His chance to do that came when he answered a local newspaper advert to assemble a small team of people to run what was then the Energy Action Grants Agency
- an organisation which was to raise standards and improve the performance of government schemes based around providing home energy efficiency to those needing it most.
The Energy Action Grants Agency
wants to install 40,000 free heating systems in the next four years.
