I had the privilege for many years of being part of one of the strongest utility and fuel fund partnerships in the country between Xcel Energy and Energy Outreach Colorado; now I can take what I learned and move it to the national level.'
In 2006, the Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) started out small: A handful of people from Energy Outreach Colorado and Xcel Energy came together and funded seven projects in their first year.
"We support Energy Outreach Colorado's mission to make home energy affordable for all Coloradans," he added.

The Colorado oil and gas industry has contributed more than $2.5 million to Energy Outreach Colorado over the past 15 years.

Ilderton said Energy Outreach Colorado is an independent nonprofit that collects cash to assist limited-income Coloradans meet the expense of home energy.
Energy Outreach Colorado has collected more than $189 million to finance energy bill payment help, emergency home heater restore and power improvement for reasonable housing and nonprofit services.
The program is a partnership between Energy Outreach Colorado, The Denver Foundation, Xcel Energy Foundation, Daniels Fund, Mile High United Way and Governor's Office of Energy Management and Conservation.
"This new partnership gives Energy Outreach Colorado the opportunity to provide permanent energy savings to the agencies that act as a safety net for the thousands of Colorado residents who otherwise would spend the holidays and most days cold and hungry with nowhere to go," said Shelly Wallace, director of long-term energy solutions for Energy Outreach.
