Shehab had lost 4-3 to Muhammad Faaris
of South Africa on Sunday, casting some doubts about his chances of qualifying for the knockout last 64 stage, but a convincing 4-0 victory over Dimitar Mehandzhiyski of Bulgaria 4-0 on Tuesday night rekindled the hopes.
Shehab, beaten 4-3 by Mohammad Faaris
of South Africa on Sunday, returned to the table to hammer Dimitar Mehandzhiyski of Bulgaria 4-0 on Tuesday night.
1 Mohammad Shehab suffered a shock 4-3 defeat at the hands of little-known South African Mohammad Faaris despite scoring fine breaks of 107 and 65 in his second Group R game.
The match between Shehab, a semi-finalist at the same event in 2007, and Faaris was an engrossing battle.
Faaris wrested the advantage again by grabbing the third 77-48.
The UAE stalwart hit back once more with his 107, taking the fourth frame before Faaris pipped him 70-51 in the close fifth.
"But there is room for better cooperation between these agencies," said Lieutenant Colonel Dr Jamal Saif Faaris, head of the International Cooperation section at the Ports and Security division of the Ministry of Interior.
Calling for an integrated approach in tackling security issues, Dr Faaris said that to ensure effective cooperation, clear cut laws had to be put in place.
