Although (i-1) and (i-2) give a full array of preverbal adjuncts and postverbal complements, verbs in Chinese can also be followed by a frequentative, durative, resultative, or manner expression (FDRM for short).
These examples would constitute an exception to (i-2a) as well as to NSR if the FDRM expressions are adjuncts.
Whatever analysis is adopted, if the FDRM expressions are all postverbal predicates (or complements), they are not (true) exceptions to the complement rule (i-2a) and to the NSR proposed here.
