All catalysts were characterized electrochemically before and after modification with FeOx by measuring their characteristic CVs in 0.5 M [H.sub.2]S[O.sub.4] (Figure 1), where the corresponding real surface areas of the FeOx/Pt catalysts could be estimated assuming a reference value of 210[micro]C x [cm.sup.-2] for [H.sub.ads/des] [33].
In addition, the modification of the Pt substrate with FeOx enriches the surface with hydroxyl groups that boost the indirect dehydration pathway of FAO [34].
