Indeed, as a continuation of its conference How to turn the demographic challenge into an opportunity for quality employment in Europe' organised a year ago, the Federation des Particuliers Employeurs de France (the French federation representing private individuals who employ workers to perform services for families - FEPEM) established, on 8 February, a European federation for employment in services for families.
In Spain, it is estimated that there are over 600,000 domestic workers; in France, FEPEM, the federation of employers of domestic workers, now has 900,000 members, and in Germany estimates of numbers of employers in 1996 range between 700,000 and one million.
The French federation representing private individuals who employ workers to perform services for families (FEPEM) wishes to obtain greater recognition at European level.
