According to figures from Eurostat, compiled by Spanish producer-exporter association Fepex, imports to the EU from Morocco increased by 4 per cent over the same period of 2007 to 407,169 tonnes, while Turkish imports rose by 1.3 per cent to 181, 038 tonnes.

The signing of agreements, in this case with FEPEX, is one of the forms of collaboration with sector organizations and associations, which allows the presence of Spanish companies in institutional pavilions of the Ministry at international fairs and promotional events, as an activity strategic for the internationalization of the Spanish agri-food sector.
"This crisis can be the ruin of the sector," said Jorge Brotons, head of the Spanish federation of fruit and vegetable producers and exporters (Fepex), who estimates the sector's losses at more than 200 million a week.
The general director of Productions and Agricultural Markets, Fernando Miranda, has met today with the representative Agrarian Professional Organizations of the national scope, Agri-Food Cooperatives and FEPEX to present the Measures Plan for the improvement of the sector of the Sweet Fruit.
The Department participates with an institutional stand of 171 m 2 , where, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Associations of Producers Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables, Flowers and Plants (FEPEX), it welcomes 6 Spanish companies of flowers and live plants.
This collaboration is the result of an agreement signed by the Ministry and FEPEX, which is part of the functions of the Ministry to assist and collaborate with associations and companies from the agri-food and fisheries sectors, to facilitate their participation in national and international fairs and exhibitions.
