On Thursday, 24 October, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will launch Fetsa Tlala at the Batlharo Stadium at the John Taole Gaetsewe District in the
Minister Joemat-Pettersson says Fetsa Tlala aims to increase food production in communal areas as well as redistributed land.
It is underpinned by two programmes, namely, the Household Food and Nutrition Security Strategy, which is led by the DSD and the The Fetsa Tlala Food Production Initiative which is under the leadership of the DAFF.
Fetsa Tlala will be financed through, amongst others, the Comprehensive Agriculture Support Programme (CASP).
Through Fetsa Tlala, one million hectares of productive agricultural land which has been lying fallow is targeted for production over a period of 5 years.
