The Father/Mother Attachment Questionnaire (FMAQ
; revised version by Matos & Costa, 2001) is a self-report, 30-item measure that assesses adolescents' and young adults' current attachment to both father and mother, separately, and according to a 6-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (/ totally disagree) to 6 (/ totally agree).
In order to address the specific hypotheses of this study, it is necessary to advance that parental attachment was measured with the Father and Mother Attachment Questionnaire (FMAQ
; Matos & Costa, 2004), a theoretically driven instrument developed in Portugal and validated across independent studies.
For example, Merritt (1998) distributed the Flight Management Attitudes Questionnaire (FMAQ
) to pilots in 18 countries.
