KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian government announced Thursday that Fly Asian Express
, a domestic airline privately owned by Tony Fernandes, the founder of budget carrier AirAsia, has been allowed to operate long-haul international routes.
The new carrier will reportedly start flying to destinations in China and Britain in July and is owned by Fly Asian Express
(FAX), a small airline that serves rural routes in Malaysia.
The airline, named AirAsia X, is owned by Fly Asian Express
, or FAX, a domestic airline in which Fernandes holds a 50 percent stake.
