FRE = word frequency per million; LNG = word length; SYL = number of syllables; N = number of neighbors; NHF = number of higher frequency neighbors; BFQ = mean bigram frequency; IMA = imageability.
This measure has shown to be one of the most powerful lexical factors that influence word reading in the most paradigmatic tasks, lexical decision (Balota & Chumbley, 1984) and word naming (Hino & Lupker, 2000), and it is provided in three modalities: raw value, frequency per million and Log.
By using the frequency count rather than the frequency per million, we are not losing any information by adding 1 (the latter is needed to have a log10 frequency value of 0 for the words not encountered in the list).
