"Nepal will receive $46.5 million, and the GAFSP funds will enhance household food security through increased agricultural productivity, household incomes and awareness about health and nutrition in the mid-western and far-western development regions," said a press statement issued on Friday.
The budget request includes funding for a targeted number of other important programs, including the Central America and Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Program, the World Bank Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF), the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and the private sector window of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) will invest $9.2 million in a program with KCB Bank Rwanda to help Rwandan farmers' cooperatives gain access to financing and training they need to expand food production.
