I would like to comment on the article by Kate Gawf titled "The Other Side of Mental Illness" (Commentary, April 24).
But it sounds like this is not the issue for Gawf. It sounds more like she just doesn't care.
Gawf talks about those compassionate people who briefly enter the lives of ill people like Hatoon but don't fix the problem.
I have just read Kate Gawf
's article "The other side of mental illness" (Commentary, April 24), and my tears are still flowing.
In her April 24 Commentary article, ``The other side of mental illness,'' Kate Gawf suggests that relatives who suffer from mental illness are extremely difficult to help.
Gawf mentioned that a wide range of people and agencies came through with a series of favors to help her neighbor, Hatoon.
I agree with Gawf concerning the media portrayal of mental illness.
