GAZA, June 27, 2010 (WAFA)- Due to the seriousness of the current electrical power crisis existing in the Gaza Governorates, Gaza Electricity Distribution Company (GEDCo) appealed, today, to all national and political authorities to take responsibilities to cure and rectify this crisis at a deep level as quickly as possible, through providing the quantities of fuel needed to run the turbines at the power plant, which will reduce the great suffering and serious for more than 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and avoid impending disaster to the services they are provided and their wellbeing and interests.
With the aggravation of the crisis and the severity of consequences and implications at the current stage after the complete shutdown of the power plant because of the lack of the needed fuel for operation, GEDCo also called upon the Arab countries through the Arab League to take a positive and effective position to help remove the current difficult situation with funding of fuel purchases to the power plant or contribute in fuel purchases.
GEDCo called, as well, upon the international community and UN to assume its responsibilities towards the current crisis, and upon all citizens to handle and behave with high responsibility, and to fulfill of their obligations and duties towards GEDCo.
