Byrne outlined several principles that he called fundamental for a new framework on GMQs: 1) GMOs must be safe; 2) there is a need for proper information; 3) the traceability of novel feed and food must be ensured; 4) authorizations must be time-limited; and 5) there must be careful monitoring.
UK Food Safety Minister Jeff Rooker says restaurants and food producers will receive government guidance notes on the labeling of foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMQs) to help businesses identify their responsibilities and understand the approval system for GMO foods and ingredients.
