Today, GNTC serves nine counties and is the largest college in northwest Georgia, as well as one of the largest technical colleges in the state.
Among the programs in human service careers offered at GNTC is Social Work Assistant, which includes a diploma option and a degree option.
GNTC notes that the practicum is "an educationally focused, guided field experience in which students engage in community-based practice with individuals, families and/or communities.
The GNTC Social Work Assistant program is designed to prepare individuals to obtain entry-level employment in public and private social service agencies.
The three Motoman industrial robotic arms have an estimated value of $50,000 according to Bill Scoggin, assistant dean of Industrial Technologies and instructor of Industrial Systems Technology at
GNTC. "It greatly enhances the student's educational experience to be able to work with the same equipment that they will be using when they enter the workforce," said Scoggin.
In her position with
GNTC, she helps students do everything it takes to get into college successfully.
Each year, the faculty and staff of the Calhoun Adult Learning Center at
GNTC and the Calhoun-Gordon County Council for a Literate Community present a GEDD award to someone who earned a General Education Degree from
GNTC.
The donation of the airplanes will further
GNTC's ability to prepare students for a career in the field of aviation maintenance technology or avionics maintenance technology.
Paulson, a native of Chicago, was the executive chef at the Coosa Valley Country Club for 10 years before leading the Culinary Arts program at
GNTC. Paulson attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.
As the director and coordinator of Early Childhood Care and Education and assistant dean of Public Service Technologies, Stitzer has made her imprint on all areas of
GNTC. As
GNTC's 201t winner, Stitzer will proceed to regional preliminary judging.
These seven EAGLES, one representative from each county in the
GNTC service area, were nominated by their instructors and will serve this year as representatives of the Office of Adult Education.
