To enable them to become involved and to further the information gathering we provided an online survey which was advertised on the GRLC website, in all of the libraries, and through local media.
The Dats program was introduced to GRLC branch managers and coordinators at a branch services meeting which was shortly followed by a staff survey to identify issues that staff have experienced when providing services to members with disabilities.
A program of two half day workshops was developed and delivered to 60 GRLC staff.
* Staff awareness GRLC staff embraced the opportunity to learn more about all types of disabilities and to consider how the learning might be applied to their service environment and to the library spaces.
GRLC staff will work with Scope to revise and improve the library specific communication boards.
Since the workshops, GRLC staff have conducted information sessions for community groups and disability support organisations on the services that are provided for their clients.
