"The first two GSSAP satellites have performed remarkably well," Lt.
"Data from GSSAP will uniquely contribute to timely and accurate orbital predictions, enhancing our knowledge of the geosynchronous orbit environment, and further enabling spaceflight safety to include satellite collision avoidance," the ULA said (http://www.ulalaunch.com/delta-iv-to-launch-afspc6.aspx?title=Delta+IV+to+Launch+AFSPC-6+) in a statement describing the mission.

GSSAP satellites will have the ability to perform rendezvous and proximity operations, allowing for the space vehicle to maneuver near a resident space object of interest, enable characteristic for anomaly resolution and enhanced surveillance, and maintain flight safety.
In that same vein of vital GEO coverage, we just announced the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program, GSSAP, which is scheduled to launch in July.
Our next major advance in space surveillance at GEO will be delivered on orbit later this year with the launch of the Air Force Space Command-4 Mission, which will deploy the first two satellites in our new geosynchronous space situational awareness program, or GSSAP. This neighborhood watch program will complement our ground based sensors and our SBSS by producing SSA data from a unique perspective not achievable by sensors some 22,000 miles away.
