The project was funded by Qatar National Research Fund and led by GWSC in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Moving forward, the GWSC research team is planning to evaluate the process in the field to validate the process stability and assess alternative pretreatment options.
Additionally, the GWSC
will sponsor sustainable development projects that benefit the local community such as programmes to encourage water conservation.
The ConocoPhillips GWSC team was praised for its ongoing efforts to address one of the grand challenges facing Qatar, water security, as identified by the Qatar National Research Strategy.
Since its launch, the GWSC visitor centre has hosted more than 5,000 students from schools around Qatar.
The activities presented by GWSC
scientists helped the students understand why conserving water is important and how they can contribute in sustained water conservation to help safeguard future generations.

The 300sq m GWSC
Visitor's Centre, located in Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), excels at providing interesting and memorable water conservation knowledge and tips for schoolchildren.
Given the rate of expansion and development in Qatar and the subsequent demand for fresh water, the innovative work of the GWSC
takes on even greater importance, Prof al-Misnad added.
