Towards GYSD and related service activities, YSA awards grants annually to participating youth, schools and organizations.
It is hoped that this year at least 1,000 volunteers will participate in 100 GYSD projects.
"GYSD is growing and we think that participation this year will be considerably higher than last year," said AVS founder Patricia Nabti.
The GYSD, the world's largest service event is celebrated in over 100 countries, with Lebanon joining the fray in 2001.
A new twist has been added to the Lebanon GYSD this year, with the event promoting sport and exercise in addition to volunteering.
