The concentration of total phenolic compounds was determined as [micro]g of gallic acid equivalent (GAE) per mg of extract using a standard curve which was prepared using gallic acid solutions (0 to 500 mg/ml) solubilized in MeOH/[H.sub.2]O (1: 9 v/v).
In the present study we employed black tea and fresh tea flush to remove polyphenols which have 10.8-12.5 and 20.3-25.6 w/w% gallic acid equivalent, respectively.
