The programme was started from 01.04.1999 after restructuring and merging the erstwhile Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) and its allied programmes, namely Training of Rural Youth for Self employment (TRYSEM), Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA), supply of Toolkits in Rural Areas (SITRA) and Ganga Kalyan Yojana (
GKY), besides Million Wells Scheme (MWS).
With the vision of 'Transforming Rural Youth into an Economically Independent and Globally Relevant Workforce', Gyanjyoti Foundation recently organized a mega training programme of 370 students on Food and Beverages with computer under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-
GKY) at Mantripukhri in Imphal.
