That winner, the Patterdale team in the Lake District, then in turn gifted it to the
Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.
We needed to plan for the event the helicopter could not reach us, and a call for extra manpower from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team and
Glossop Mountain Rescue Team was made.
Up to 20 members of the Kinder and
Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were also called out.
The team which recruits mainly from the Holme Valley was first called out at midday to help
Glossop Mountain Rescue Team with a 15-year-old girl who had fallen and injured her lower left leg at Bleaklow Head, the second highest hill in the Peak District.
Working alongside
Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and with the support of the Derbyshire police helicopter, the missing walker was found safe but very tired on the northern edges of Bleaklow.
Other successful dog teams were: Paul Taylor with Springer Spaniel Toby from
Glossop Mountain Rescue team and Nick Smith from Buxton mountain Rescue Team with his Border Collie Zak, who was also awarded the "Novice Shield" for outstanding performance on the assessment course.
