TOKYO, July 18, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation will conduct verification tests in Toyota City using driving data obtained from "Ha:mo Ride"(1), a car-sharing service that utilizes "COMS" ultra-compact BEVs (battery electric vehicles), from September 9 to October 13.
Known as Cite lib by Ha:Mo, the programme is also supported by the local authorities in Grenoble, the French power supplier EDF, SODETREL, an EDF subsidiary that installs, manages and maintains electric charging points, and well-established local car-share operator Cite lib.
Toyota will also introduce the "Ha:mo" system, which allows people and the town to move comfortably by using an optimal combination of personal vehicles, such as cars and public transportation.
Ha:mo is a car sharing system that utilizes ultra-compact EVs suitable for short-distance travel and allows one-way usage.
Through this initial trial, Toyota will assess the effectiveness and usefulness of the Ha:mo system in improving access to tourism sites, and in stimulating local economies through increased interactions between tourists and locals.
Toyota will focus on two initiatives aiming to change the nature of mobility: ITS Connect, a safety system that enables vehicles to communicate with other vehicles and infrastructure; and Ha:mo, a convenient and user-friendly next-generation urban transport system.
The trial will also incorporate elements from Toyota's "Ha:mo" optimized urban transport system.
By sharing this vision, five partners - the City of Grenoble, France, its metropolitan area Grenoble-Alpes Metropole, EDF and its affiliate Sodetrel, Toyota Motor Corporation and Cite lib - launched today a new service called "Cite lib by Ha:mo".
