The Health Beliefs about Mental Illness (HBMI) (Saleeby, 2000) is a 48-item instrument designed to measure the four main constructs of the Health Belief Model (perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, benefits, and barriers) across the specific conditions of emotional/nervous problem or alcohol/drug problem.
