The latest newcomer to this class is the Hindustan Aeronautics (Hal) HJT-36 Sitara.
Despite India's acquisition of Hawks, in late 2004 Hal proposed the development of a new-generation Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT), based on the use of two uprated Larzac engines and a further development of the HJT-36 wing.
Nevertheless, as seen here, Hindustan Aeronautics showed a model of its HJT-36 intermediate jet trainer, which will be powered by a single Snecma Larzac engine.
