The Head of the HKSARG delegation, Ms Sum, welcomed the EU delegation to Hong Kong.
The HKSARG also briefed the EU on its work in taking forward the Belt and Road Initiative and the developments in the financial services sector.
The EU updated the HKSARG on the economic recovery in Europe, where growth has become more balanced with all EU member states' economies expanding.
The HKSARG takes the view that implementing co-location arrangement at the West Kowloon Station can maximise the benefits that may arise from the operation of the Hong Kong Section of XRL.
Throughout the period during which the HKSARG and the relevant Mainland authorities conducted study and discussion, both sides have all along agreed that co-location arrangement should comply with three objectives, namely:
The only reason why the HKSARG
requests the assistance of CPG for implementing co-location arrangement is to maximise the potentials of the Hong Kong Section of the XRL.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Service, Mr Gunnar Wiegand, and the Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce and Industry) of the HKSARG, Ms Vivian Sum.
Mr Wiegand welcomed the HKSARG delegation and reflected on the excellent relationship between the EU and the HKSARG.
The government spokesman said that the HKSARG has all along been attaching great importance to the incident concerning a bookstore in Causeway Bay.
The HKSARG has all along been dealing with matters relating to the HKSAR strictly in accordance with the principle of "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law.
The Fund is operated from a capital amount of $50 million provided by the HKSARG
when it was established.
