In the next few years QixiangTengda will construct a plant complex at the Zibo site (in China's Shandong province), where up to 300 kmt of propylene oxide and the amount of H202 required for the HPPO process will be produced annually.

Evonik developed the HPPO process in cooperation with ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH.
The HPPO process now enables the eco-friendly oxidation agent to also be used in the chemical direct synthesis of propylene oxide.
The plant would use the hydrogen-peroxide-to-propylene-oxide (HPPO) technology jointly developed by Dow and BASF.
It would be the second world-scale plant to use HPPO technology.
This is the second time that BASF and Dow have cooperated in the polyurethanes market: in September 2006, the companies began construction of an HPPO
plant at BASF's Antwerp site.
Having completed the joint development of their HPPO [hydrogen peroxide route to propylene oxide (PO)] technology, BASF AG (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and The Dow Chemical Company (Midland, Mich.) report that they plan to begin construction in 2006 of the first world-scale plant utilizing the technology.
The HPPO is now available to both parties for joint or individual investment opportunities.
