O-net mobile broadband service, part of Batelco's O Services, comes with a data card that enables customers to browse the Internet, send and receive SMS, chat using existing instant messaging service and access business applications, all from the convenience of a laptop or PC or even their
HSDPA enabled mobiles, anywhere and any time.
The deal includes the upgrade of the mobile network in Norway and is part of a pan-Nordic
HSDPA contract between Telenor Nordic and Nokia Siemens Networks, covering Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
NEC also delivered
HSDPA mobile handsets "N902iX HIGH-SPEED" for this new commercial service in Japan.
In addition to Bouygues Telecom, Nortel has worked with a number of wireless operators on
HSDPA deployments, including Orange France, Vodafone Spain in Barcelona (during 3GSM World Congress in February 2006), EDGE Wireless in the US, SKT and KTF in Korea, Partner Communications in Israel, and Mobilkom Austria.
The
HSDPA service is expected to appeal to KPN's business customers, providing faster access to 3G services such as high-speed wireless web surfing, e-mail and company networks and applications.
Nortel's
HSDPA technology is helping SK Telecom reduce operating costs while delivering high-quality communications through more efficient use of its UMTS network.
Some of the benefits operators will see from
HSDPA include:
'We foresee a mass market with
HSDPA implemented in 2006,' said Mikael Back, vicepresident of Ericsson 3G networks business.
The picoChip WiMAX library compliments the company's existing reference designs for WCDMA and
HSDPA.
The modem, called the Multi-Tech Systems SocketModem
HSDPA, will allow tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity to new or legacy systems with minimal development time.
The EXPRESS 7.2 is able to connect in most countries around the world, operates on multiple frequency bands and scans networks automatically for
HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS in order to use the fastest connection available.
