The SX Pilot Plant has successfully produced its first product - an ultra-high grade mid and heavy rare earth oxide
. With a purity of 99.9% REO this product (Photo 1, Table 1 in link below) is expected to exceed the requirements of off take customers.

) is the total concentration of: Y2O3, Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Tb4O7, Dy2O3, Ho2O3, Er2O3, Tm2O3, Yb2O3 and Lu2O3.
Highlights from the assays include 2.96% TREO (total rare earths oxides) with 27.2% HREO (heavy rare earth oxides
) over 11.6m; 2.12% TREO with 37.6% HREO over 5.3m; 2.24% TREO with 28.4% HREO over 16m; and 2.17% TREO with 18.5% HREO over 28.5m.

Avalon intends to produce a mixed rare earth concentrate from its Nechalacho deposit at Thor Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada and ship it by rail to Geismar where the concentrate will be processed to isolate and refine the individual light and heavy rare earth oxides
and chlorides for sale throughout the world.
HREO/TREO refers to the proportion of heavy rare earth oxides
as a percentage of the total rare earth oxide content of the rock.
Heavy Rare Earth Oxides
(HREO) refers to the elements europium to lutetium, plus yttrium, expressed as oxides.
The fluorite samples showed highly anomalous heavy rare earths, with TREO (total rare earth oxides) up to 0.44% and HREO (Heavy Rare Earth Oxides
):TREO ratios averaging 50% with a peak of 70%.
