The microprocessor, which was developed in collaboration with Japan's NEC Corp, includes a 10/100 Ethernet module and a universal serial bus (USB) module that operates with either an internal or external transceiver, as well as a four-channel time division multiplex controller, a
high-level data link control (HDLC) software module and other on-chip peripherals.
Packet engines also support different communications links to the DSPs, including
high-level data link control over the TDM bus, direct memory access through shared memory, or simply Ethernet.
Triscend Corporation, Mountain View, Calif., a provider of Configurable System-on-Chip (CSoC) technology for the communications market, has introduced a
high-level data link control (HDLC) core from the FastChip(TM) CSoC Development System's soft module library.
