AVERAGE FORECAST Named Storms: 2.2 5 Named Storm Days 11.5 24.75 Hurricanes: 1.4 2 Hurricane Days 5.2 9 Intense Hurricanes 0.4 1
The Atlantic hurricane season officially started on June 1st and lasts until the end of November, although the Atlantic basin shows a very peaked seasonality with the large majority of hurricane days occurring in the period from August to October.
They showed "no trend of any sort in the number of hurricanes experienced in any of the four regions with respect to variations in temperature." Warm weather did not produce more hurricane days or more intense storms; cooler weather did.
The Colorado team now estimates that the rest of 2018 will see additional 4 hurricanes (median is 6.5), 10 named storms (median is 12.0), 41.50 named storm days (median is 60.1), 15 hurricane days (median is 21.3), 1 major (Category 3-4-5) hurricane (median is 2.0) and 2 major hurricane days (median is 3.9).
