The Department of Islamic Education and Religious Guidance of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) will organise a series of lectures and scientific courses in various mosques in Dubai throughout the second half of 2019.
Work is set to start soon on the project, being developed in co-operation with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and will be completed within 18 months, said the statement from IACAD.
Iacad revealed that donations from government and private companies as well as individuals as helped accumulate $11.8m (AED43.2m) under the initiative.
According to a cooperation agreement signed by the IACAD and the DHA, the former will contribute $8.17 million to the centre's total construction cost.
In a report published by an Arabic daily, Dr Omar Al Khatib, executive director for Islamic Affairs at IACAD, said: "We have collaborated with the RTA to oblige the buses in the emirate to implement all school transport standards.
IACAD can seize the funds collected and shall redirect them for another purpose.
