Among his many volumes of verse are Sam a Iaska (1923), which speaks of youth ' s longing for revolution; Slavik zpiv a spatne ( The Nightingale Sings Badly, 1926), strongly influenced by dada and surrealism; and Zhasnete sv etla ( Put Out the Lights, 1938), whose title poem, about the Nazi threat hanging over Prague, is one of Seifert ' s most famous.
