One of the reasons why TermCoord (the Terminology Coordination Unit of the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Parliament) was created in 2008 was to coordinate the activity of IATE. If we can see IATE as a huge terminology memory which is permanently extending, TermCoord may be seen as the 'brain,' the 'manager,' the 'inter-institutional coordinator' that decides and then enables the storage of specialized terms.
