Launched in 1999 under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, with the ambassador of India to Qatar as its patron, the IBPN aims to promote Indian traders and formation of manufacturing and trading joint ventures between India and Qatar and promoting investment in either country on a bilateral basis.

The slide show was followed by unveiling of the replica of ICC World Cup by the Indian ambassador who handed over the trophy to Sanjiv Kohli, minister at the Indian embassy, Azim Abbas, president of IBPN, and Mohd Sabih Bukhari, chairman of NRI Institute.
Observing that Qatari investment in India is low right now, Sharma, who was in town to attend the Unctad XIII conference, urged IBPN members to inspire and encourage their Qatari counterparts to invest in India.
