Chapter eight focuses on the re-engaging of young people in learning through the South Australian Social Inclusion Unit's Innovation Community Action Network (ICAN) model.
The author, a senior lecturer in the School of Education at the University of South Australia, contributed to the evaluation of the School Retention Action Plan and has managed research projects investigating programs for ICAN. This chapter investigates the social inclusion agenda in SA and the strategies involved in changing attitudes, values and cultures.
