ICCAS is the only international conference that brings together the two sides of the international food industry: food sciences and food services.
Lt Colonel Marcus R Appleton, Master of the Worshipful Company of Cooks said: "It's great to see
ICCAS being held in Wales for the first time.
It has also successfully lobbied for the inclusion of IP-responsive provisions in the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (E-Nipas) Act of 2018 and trained different government personnel on
ICCA Documentation and Cultural Appreciation.
"A law specifically for
ICCAs would provide the necessary government mandate, especially the annual budget and people needed to manage the
ICCAs," he said.
The workshop provided a multi-stakeholder platform to generate debate on issues specific to
ICCAs. Regional Experts on
ICCAs from Iran and Nepal attended the event, along eminent researchers, policy practitioners, and experts from all over Pakistan.

To that effect, Casa Bacardi, through its relationship with
ICCAS, has sponsored a number of thought-provoking seminars, from "The Jewish Community: Past and Present" to "Castro, Biotechnology and Terrorism." Past guest speakers include Romanian humanrights activist Gabriel Andreescu; Estonian prime minister Mart Laar, and Czech ambassador Martin Palous, all of whom talked about how their Eastern European countries coped with the difficult transition from communism to democracy.
These include a policy guideline addressing gaps and inconsistencies toward
ICCA recognition; a set of guidelines interfacing the
ICCAs into the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the Community Development Plan; a guideline on
ICCAs overlapping with protected areas; and the National
ICCA Registry and Policy envisioned to be a centralized information management system on
ICCAs.
Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez, Director of DENR-BMB, emphasized the need to promulgate government policies on
ICCAs by saying, "The recognition of
ICCAs is in line with the country's targets to the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD) Aichi targets and the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP).
